CAS Member CHAI Zhifang Won Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award for Environmental Chemistry

Recently, at the 12th National Conference on Environmental Chemistry, CAS Member CHAI Zhifang won Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award for Environmental Chemistry.

CAS Member CHAI Zhifang has long been committed to the development of nuclear technology and nuclear analysis methodology and its intersection with other disciplines. His representative achievements cover the research area of the molecular-neutron activation analysis of several important elements, the abundance characteristics of platinum group elements, metallonomics, environmental toxicology and nano-safety, and fast neutron spectroscopy at nuclear explosion sites. He has published more than 600 research papers in journals such as Nature, Science and other top-tier international journals. He has been in charge of several major research plans/programs and state key programs of the National Natural Science Foundation.

The professional committee of Environmental Chemistry of Chinese Chemical Society established the Outstanding Achievement Award for Environmental Chemistry in 2017. It’s awarded bi-annually and to only one or two nominees each time. When the award winner reaches 75 years old, the title will be changed into Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award for Environmental Chemistry. (Soochow University)
