Lecture Tours on S&T Progress and Sustainable Development in Western China

Altogether, 12 lecture meetings were held on the subject, at which 22 CAS Members gave speeches. On the basis of their own work, the speakers dealt with those subjects that have a special or critical bearing on scientific, technological, economic and social development in the western hinterland of China. Their talks touched upon issues concerning the economic development, S&T frontiers, science education, talent training, resources, the environment and energy in the region. More than 5,000 people attended their lecturing sessions, including Party and government officials, and university students, who claimed that what they heard was interesting, enlightening and inspiring.
