The 13th General Assembly

The 13th General Assembly of CAS Members and the 8th General Assembly of CAE Members open on the morning of June 5 in Beijing. More than 1,100 CAS and CAE members attended the opening ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People.
Top State leaders, including Chinese President and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee HU Jintao, were present at the ceremony.
In his speech delivered at the ceremony, Hu said the two academies gather the country's most talented research elites to address key social and economic problems for the country, and praised their members for making excellent contributions to major state science projects, including the manned space flight, super hybrid rice and high-performance super servers.
The agenda of the 4-day CAS conference will include the examination and approval of work reports of the CAS Academic Divisions (CASAD), a revision of By-Law on CAS Members, election of new standing committees for the academic divisions, election of CAS foreign.
